Gallery Post: Hannah + Lander’s Garden Party Wedding in Seattle, WA

Where to begin with Hannah and Lander’s picture-perfect wedding… Hannah and Lander's backyard wedding in Seattle, WA, was a beautifully intimate celebration, showcasing their love for each other amidst the backdrop of a lush garden (cared for by Lander and his grandmother). A stunning (and rare) sunny day outside the city, Hannah and Lander’s wedding was a testament to a wedding’s originality. As I say time and time again, no two couples are alike, and their weddings should be a reflection of them, and their unique love story. From the drop-dead gorgeous floral arrangements, to the thrifted glasses and silverware, to the Juliet veil worn by Hannah, this film-centred wedding showcased an artsy, folksy, intimate vibe that encapsulated Hannah and Lander’s down-to-earth, authentic natures. This journal post will take you through the various aspects of their special day, highlighting the stunning greenery, the carefully curated details, and the joy shared among family and friends.

The Details and Getting Ready

When I arrived at Lander’s grandmother’s house in Bellevue, I could immediately feel the warmth and excitement of the day. Their families came together to prepare all of the food for the day right there in the kitchen, and the amazing smell of the meal to come was the perfect welcome. I loved this perfect at-home vibe that totally set the tone for the day, from the home cooked meal for all of their guests, to the painstaking attention Hannah and Lander paid to the decor. The wildflower floral arrangements by Florals By Cassandra (who by the way, is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met) went hand-in-hand with the vintage tablecloths, linens, and customised matchboxes on each table.

Hannah and Lander both got ready in the bedrooms upstairs, keeping the day simple. Hannah put together her wedding look herself, sourcing the corset, skirt, and Juliet veil from different thrift stores (a girl after my own heart). I absolutely loved the intention and thoughtfulness she put into every single detail, including the handpicked jewellery, perfume, and vintage shoes. On the other side of the house, Lander got into his wedding suit and we got him all set up in the garden for their first look.

First Look and Couples Session

Easily one of my favourite parts of the day, the first look is such an emotionally-packed moment, and one that I look forward to with EVERY wedding. Hannah and Lander’s was such a special first-look, though, because it all took place in Lander’s grandmother’s STUNNING garden. She has spent years cultivating this perfect patch of green space (with Lander’s help), not only making it beautiful, but also even more special as the place for the newlyweds to come together. Their first look was tear-filled, and we made use of as much of the garden as we could, taking full advantage of the antique benches, nooks of flowers, and massive tree trunks that surround this little Eden.

The Ceremony + Garden Party

The ceremony took place on the other side of this enchanting backyard, under a decorated dugout that seemed like something out of a fairytale. It was a heartwarming moment as Hannah walked down the aisle, accompanied by her father, to meet Lander at the altar. Even though the ceremony was short and sweet, it packed a punch: their handwritten vows exchanged were heartfelt and emotional, and the couple’s love for each other was evident in every word.

Everyone cried, including their two officiants, friends of the couple. As soon as they were pronounced husband and wife, Hannah and Lander walked back down the aisle as their friends and family blew bubbles in celebration. I absolutely love this trend, and makes for such fun photos! Most people opt for flower petals for their recession, but the nice thing about bubbles is you don’t need to worry about a well-aimed petal hitting you in the eye (HUGE plus).

As soon as the ceremony was over, the reception was in full swing. Potluck style, their food for the afternoon was eclectic, colourful and delicious. Obviously, my own photo specialty is in couples and not food, but I had such a blast capturing their spread on both digital and film, as it deserved. The rest of the day was a fun and family filled day in the sun, celebrating the newlyweds. Beautiful toasts were given bringing everyone to tears (again!), so much food was eaten, and Hannah and Lander cut their cake with all of their guests there to cheer them on.

Hannah and Lander’s reception was a true reflection of their personalities and relationship. The potluck style meal showcased the diverse and vibrant tastes of their community, while the heartfelt toasts shared by loved ones highlighted the impact the couple had on those around them. As the evening progressed, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, and joy as guests mingled, danced, and celebrated the newlyweds.

The couple’s attention to detail was evident throughout the entire day, from the carefully curated decor to the meaningful choices in attire and accessories. Every element of the wedding was a representation of their love story and shared interests. The decision to have a backyard wedding not only added a personal touch to the day but also allowed for a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere that truly reflected their easygoing nature.

The garden setting provided a picturesque backdrop for both the ceremony and reception, adding a touch of natural beauty to the event. The lush greenery and vibrant blooms complemented the couple’s style and vision for their special day. The thought and care put into every aspect of the celebration made it a truly memorable and unique experience for everyone involved. The day was a perfect blend of elegance and simplicity, artistry and authenticity, creating a wedding that was truly one-of-a-kind. Hannah and Lander’s perfect wedding will forever be remembered as a beautiful testament to their love and commitment to each other.

In the end, Hannah and Lander’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love, but a reflection of who they are as individuals and as a couple. It was a day filled with laughter, tears, and unforgettable moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. Their journey together had reached a significant milestone, and their wedding day was a perfect representation of the love, respect, and admiration they held for each other. Cheers to Hannah and Lander, the newlyweds destined for a lifetime of happiness and love.
